When it comes to geology jobs, big bucks can be made by understanding where and how to drill for oil. An article on oil published by a Colorado geologist is a great primer on the geology behind Oil, Petroleum, and Hydrocarbons (original source). The article was read in class today and each student worked individually to complete self-guided notes. Very few students finished this assignment in class, so for most it is homework this evening. The guided notes (three main points from each of the seven sections of the article) are due at the start of class tomorrow (Friday) for all classes except 8th hour (due on Monday).

The rock types quiz scheduled for today has been bumped to tomorrow due to yesterday’s evacuation. The test is still on for Tuesday, following review in class on Monday and an after-school study session Monday afternoon. For those who would like to get a jump start on studying for the test, you can download and print the Geology Test Study Guide.

As always, be sure to call or email me with any questions.
