Day 93: Stellar Life Cycle Projects – Day 1 January 22, 2007
Posted by J Gontesky in Astronomy, Homework.trackback
Today we began the Stellar Life Cycle Project. Students will construct a project that details the primary stages of a star’s life with pictures and written descrptions. Students have their choice of 4 projects described on the handout and can even do another project of their chosing as long as I OK it beforehand. Read the full details on the Stellar Life Cycle Project handout.
All projects must include images and descriptions of all of the stages of a star’s life cycle:
- Nebula
- Main Sequence Star
- Red Giant
- White Dwarf
- Supernova
- Neutron Star
- Black Hole
A few reminders that are not on the handout:
- All projects are individual except the video. No more than two people working together can get credit for any one video.
- The key here is quality: It should be obvious to me that you put a sufficient amount of time into this project. It cannot be completed in a half hour.
- All projects are due one week from today – Monday, January 29th.
Looking ahead: Tomorrow we’ll continue with these Stellar Life Cycle projects and then on Wednesday we’ll discuss how solar systems form. We’ll end the week with two days about the sun: it’s structure and processes. The astronomy test will be on Thursday, 02/01/07 with a review session in class and after school on Wednesday, 01/31/07.
[...] conclude our Astronomy unit next week. Don’t forget: Stellar Life Cycle Project (See days 93 and 94) are due on Monday, 01/29 and no late passes are [...]
